NEW FEG SEM Masterclass

as well as SEM Masterclass

Our FEG SEM Masterclass is essential for those using "in lens" detection instruments, which we find are so often misunderstood and incorrectly used.  Stop wasting your time and have some tuition that WILL make the impossible possible in most cases!

Over the past six months we have been working with scientists at the fore front of their topics, investigating modern materials and of course the infamous nano particles!  However, whilst the scientist  understand their science they fail to understand the true advantages of a "double detection" or "inlens detection" system.

Obtaining information from this type of instrument is a careful balance of the signals obtained. It is here that we are able to open up areas that not only demonstrate new structures but also we simplify the extraction of information that had not been available to these people without considerable difficulty.  Imaging from 100,000X to 500,000X with techniques offering ultra high resolution x-ray mapping down to 5nm particles with full 0-20keV display!

The cost for a 5 day course UK £1950, Europe €2150 + travel, USA $3200 + travel

How do you describe the FEG SEM Masterclass?

"Wow I have had my world shaken! I will use the instrument in a totally different way in the future, I am amazed!"

How do you describe what Protrain have to offer comments like

"Unless you have been on a Protrain SEM course run by Steve Chapman you just cannot imagine what's going to happen!"

"Great explanations"

"I came with a pretty good idea about SEM having been on courses before but, on this course I had some areas of my knowledge confirmed, several areas of my knowledge have been dramatically expanded, and to my surprise totally new areas have been opened up to me!"

"For knowledge, enthusiasm, operating skill and the ability to pass on information on scanning electron microscopy, surely Steve Chapman has no equal?"

A one week course dedicated to the training of SEM operators to the highest level. Only four students may take part in the course, which we believe is the most intensive instruction in advanced SEM procedures available anywhere in the world. All you will need to know about operating a SEM in one exciting week!

In a round table illustrated discussion the students are taken through the theory and practice of the operation of the scanning electron microscope, from basic through to advanced levels. The course also covers specimen preparation techniques and coating procedures in general, as well as those specific to the student’s specimens.

The practical periods offer each student the opportunity to evaluate instrument performance over a wide range of accelerating voltages and then to make modifications to the instrument set up in order to further optimise its performance. In this way gun and specimen geometry may be better understood and operators will be able to raise their skill levels to bring more performance from an instrument than the manufacturer claims. The students operate the instruments themselves, the students develop their own talents under the eagle eye and guidance of Steve Chapman, everyone learns! The very heavy schedule will push the students to the limit, this is a course based on understanding and action, it is not for the faint hearted!

SEM courses are available anywhere in the world, but non are as intensive as this, we guarantee that any operator no matter how experienced will learn even more about the instrument if they join us.

SEM Masterclass is the course that we have enjoy more than any other, under its new name its concept is even more clearly defined. We have just four people, Steve Chapman, and a scanning electron microscope for a whole week; a true "SEM Masterclass"! The students are taken just as far as they are capable of going. Where else do you get the chance to be shown just what you can obtain from the instrument with a little bit of help, intensive tuition intensive learning?

The teaching style is “about SEM in general” covering all the points that may be specific for a particular student’s instrument. (Our wide range of knowledge about all types of SEM is unsurpassed.) This is a very very busy course that always leaves both students and trainer drained but excited, with the students desperate to get back to their own instruments to try out their new found talents.
